A Stroke of “Bad” Luck π
I don’t know if it’s really something to laugh about but π€·♂️ what else can I do? I was planning on leaving for Stacie’s the day after my primary care visit but those plans were put on hold when I woke in the middle of the night and realized I had partial vision loss in my left eye. I went to the bathroom, went back to bed and figured I’d deal with it when I got up if it was still an issue. It was.

When I got up I still had the blind spot so I headed to the VA for lab work and called Dr. Lonergan to speak to his nurse about my situation. While I was getting blood work his nurse called back and said he wanted me to go to the ER where they wound up admitting me to the hospital. After CT Scan, Echocardiogram, MRI and lab work they determined that I didn’t have a brain stroke but probably had an eye stroke.

They referred me to an emergency ophthalmologist and I went to see him after going back to the VA to finish my lab work. (Couldn’t pee the first time). The ophthalmologist determined that I did in fact have an eye stroke. I was scheduled to come back for a field of vision test to be retested in three months.

Once I was evaluated by a speech therapist and it was determined I could swallow the food was actually decent.

Then on Thursday I went to my new primary care doctor at the VA and had a less than impressive visit. He was more concerned with correcting my pronunciation of a word than discussing my actual PNH. He had a very “whatever” attitude about it. When we finished. , (The only physical I had was listening to my breathing), I asked if I needed to make any follow up appointments and he said “See you in a year”. I asked if it was okay to drive to St. Louis and he said, “As long as you can see out of one eye”. The guy was a real dick!
