Looking Back at 2021.

It’s almost two weeks into the new year and I haven’t done a year end wrap up so I guess I need to do it and move on to blogging 2022. Running pretty much ceased to exist. I tried plogging during parts of the races that I did but never for more than a few hundred yards at a stretch before I was too out of breath and had to go back to trying to walk fast when I could to be sure to at least finish.  I finished the year with more days napping (194) than actual miles walked (125) and 37 of those miles was doing “races”. Speaking of racing I only did 9 for the year.  As far as my other “hobby” my reading was pretty consistent with a total of 64 books just three less than 2020. I read 39 fiction and 25 nonfiction.  Just as it did in 2020 my health dictated if and when I could travel because my treatments changed from every 8 weeks to every 6 weeks then my travel window became shorter. I did get to take some good trips with my dog Charlie. In April/May I took a long road trip to...

Christmas and Snow

Image
Christmas here in Oregon was nice. On Christmas Eve we got together at the house and had a nice dinner. Our traditional meal here has been lasagna, bread, Caesar salad and my drink of choice this year, wine. There were three different kinds of pie but after the meal I didn’t have any room for it.  After dinner we exchanged gifts and shared a lot of laughs. Even Gregg came over, the only time he’s participated in anything in many months.  Christmas Day we went to Dave and Becky’s (friends of Donna’s from California who live here now). Becky actually rented the 5th wheel my parents had lived in. We had quiche, mixed berries and drinks. Then we played a game for a while before heading home to the dogs. It was a fun time with a lot of laughs.  Christmas night we got enough snow too have it declared a white Christmas and then it continued to snow off and on for several days. It was a beautiful snow.  I think this was the first time that Charlie has been in the snow. After...

Catching Up

I haven’t been real motivated to blog for a while. At first I was thinking I wasn’t sure why but then when I stopped and thought about how it sometimes takes me literally hours to get the motivation to get moving just to take a shower it seems pretty obvious. When there are days, often most, when you’re just physically, mentally and emotionally tired no matter what you try or what you do it makes sense that things don’t get started much less done.  I did get out a few weeks ago and took Charlie to a park across the freeway in Creswell that I see every time I go to Eugene. It’s small but nice.  I still get a lot of memories triggered when I look at my blogs and see food posts. These are nothing special just a side by side of a taco salad at a Mexican restaurant in Cottage Grove and tacos I made at home, a pot of rattlesnake pasta that I made and a picture that was more about the beer than the food. Lol. They served us flat beer knowing their carbonation system was down so we tr...
